Books for your Kindle... #4

Just a very quick post to give you Kindle readers (as in people who read books on their Kindles as opposed to me talking to an electronic device.....which clearly wouldn't make any sense... ) a heads up to an amazing web site/resource for free books to feed the gaping maw of your device....

The site is here [clicky]

New books are added daily, you can filter on specific genres, and all the books are free - mostly from Amazon from what I can tell....

  1. I'm still humming and hawing about getting a Kindle. It may happen this year.

By the way Felix Francis was my physics teacher at school (the year I got an E in my mock O level - just scraped a C in the real exam). How the class laughed at him when he appeared on This is your Life with his father!

We didn't get on and I can't believe that he's now making all that money!

    1. Taking the first issue, I suspect that like me you are a bibliophile.. and I too was also half hearted about the whole idea of electronic reading devices UNTIL I bought one for the current Mrs Steve the Wargamer for her birthday and was instantly won over.... but only for fiction..... never for non-fiction/reference, or for periodicals - basically anything where a picture carries a hundred words.......

Felix is doing OK - Dick Francis was never, and will never be, highbrow - he tells good stories... it's like putting on a favourite hat, or my trusty 25 year old Barbour, you know what you're going to get and he, and I'm glad to say his son, continue to deliver...

PS. Only low brow, scientifical oiks excel at physics - I too am a fellow C scraper.....

  2. I got a Kindle off my wife and charged it up. She decided to set it up for me.

    Anyone out there read Chinese?

PS, O Levels were numbers, a C would be GCSE.

    1. Why did I say B? It was a 4, which would be equivalent to a B.
