If I could bottle it...

...I'd make a fortune.......

I have no idea what drives these things, but there are probably cleverer people than I 1 who could drum up Powerpoint2 presentations until the point I lost the will to live, to explain the reasoning....

So I was just typing up my post for Salute 2013 and spotted that the review I did of the last Scarrow book had an implausible3 number of page views, so on a quiet afternoon, and after 600 posts I thought I'd look and see which one was the most popular...... I wonder what drives these things???  I can only assume someone on a more popular blog has mentioned the following for some reason.....!

....astonishing..... well.... anyway, it passed an interesting 5 minutes....

1 you know who you are - shiny silk suit, two sizes too small, loud lining, much taken with talking loudly on latest model Apple iPhone (or whatever is considered must have gadget of that time) while wearing those very pointy shiny leather shoes....
2 in the words of the BBC, "other presentation tools and applications are available"...
3 I'm amazed anyone reads this drivel so anything more than 3 is implausible (that's me, my mum, and one accidental hit).....  haven't you people got better things to do - in the words of  the Legatus [clicky], don't you have little metal men to paint??

  1. Steve,

First off - those smileys are (according to Chrome) from a site known for malware so I got a warning not to proceed to this post. Just thought I'd let you know in case nobody else pays a visit to this post

As for the popular posts, you're probably right about someone linking to the posts on a forum or their own blog. I seem to remember the "Old School" one being linked on TMP at the time, as well as a few blogs.

Reviews of games and minis and reports on shows will always generate a lot of hits, particularly if the link is posted somewhere like TMP. I think my Salute 2012 and 2013 posts got even more hits than your 2010 one.

    1. Hi Tamsin... you're the second in two posts to mention the Chrome thing... weird.. they're not even links, just an image.... n'er mind I'll get my own copy.... As for the comments re reviews guess you're right, it's nice to know someone's reading them (but still an amazement!)

    2. Chrome security alert should now have gone - I've loaded my own copy of the smiley...

    3. Steve - it's because the image was on their site. Posting your own copies has cleared the problem - no warning message when I came through this time.

  2. I first came here because of a link to the Old School posts (you can blame Gary Amos for that)...

  5. Interesting! I'm going to check mine although I know the top one: girly paintings by Angus McBride from Mayfair magazine!

I did notice that the top ten tool on blogger didn't agree with the individual posts counts though.

  6. I've had the same weirdness happen with a couple of my posts. No amount of Google foo has uncovered any links to it however. Very odd...

    1. Hi Andy - yes - in fact just finished it, so it may be due for a review if only to introduce more people to him. He lived locally to me - at one time (1939'ish) he lived in the mill at Langstone (which John Lennon later bought) and I cycle past that on my way to work.... that aside I've been a Shute admirer for some time - first read him when I was a nipper (Pied Piper) and re-read "Trustee from the Tool Room" earlier this year.... he is just a classic story teller, no more no less....
