Spotted this yesterday in Tesco's (UK supermarket chain for those not in the know).. slightly bigger than A4 size, comes full of strawberries for £4, eat the strawberries and then use the MDF it is made from for buildings, models, bases, whatever...
I looked at it and thought, mud wall fortification/village for the Sudan/North Africa.. spray paint it black and then mud wash with lighter shades of brown and sand... but £4 for that amount of MDF? Bargain... oh, and you get to eat the strawberries... 'nom nom' as the young people say..
PS. Have had to remove anonymous posting of comments as I'm being inundated with requests for assistance with their blogs as they like mine so much (and felt the need to comment that on a 8 year old post!😏)
PPS. Have added a "contact me" widget should you ever feel the need...
And also make brilliant stackable storage too
ReplyDeleteMike - now that is a thought... was thinking the other day I needed better way of storing the 10mm WWII collection..
DeleteVery similar things are used for citrus fruit too.
ReplyDeleteHi Edwin.. yes, saw Man of Tin's post below - hadn't seen those..
DeleteYou are not alone in receiving inventive spam. For the past month, I have been receiving join-up members with obviously randomly generated names that do not appear on my member's counter. They all want me to email tham to welcome them to the blog, of course. Perhaps I should just cut out the middleman and send them my bank details directly? All this in a blog with just shy of 56 members!
ReplyDeletenotquitemechanised - it seems to go in cycles... I block anonymous comments for 6 months, take it off, and I'm good for 6 months, and then it starts again...
DeleteInteresting?
ReplyDeleteRay.. you tell me.. :o))
DeleteVery good value for such a stout MDF storage box alone. Lush Spanish strawberries I see too :)
ReplyDeleteHaving same problems with Spam too, going to reset my comments settings.
Lee.. been watching your adventure start on Facebook.. new place looks cracking!
DeleteI found a similar MDF style clementines box and made a signal tower fort out of it - have fun with yours! https://poundstoreplasticwarriors.wordpress.com/2017/05/17/scratchbuilt-desert-or-coastal-signal-tower/
ReplyDeleteMIN.. I'm quite enthused... loved your semaphore tower...!
Deletehmm our strawberries come in those little old fashioned pint boxes made from paper thin wood. but then they ars local grown. The clementines and similar come in plywoid or mdf boxes which are reason enough to buy them. Good for movement trays, bases, buildings and fir miscellaneous stackable storage. Never had such a nice fort like one though!
ReplyDeleteRoss Mc. - I was just surprised at how sturdy it was.. not sure what I'll do with it .. yet.. :o)
DeleteI see MDF and I panic.
ReplyDeleteLegatus - to be fair you see most things and panic.. other than attractive women, sausages, and good wine.. oh and vodka martini's... all of which would have me panicking.. :o))
DeleteI use those as handy paint trays to store my Vallejo paints. Never thought of using them as a structure.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Andy
Andy, good idea, as I hadn't thought of actually using them as storage in their own rights... :o))
DeleteMust be a southern thing for Tesco since they’re not in my local store. Bah humbug.
ReplyDeletePaul, every time I've seen them they've been to one side of the main fruit displays.. I also suspect they are a seasonal thing.. worth hunting for though.. surprisingly good thickness of MDF
DeleteLeave it to you Brits. You have the best figure Mfgs, The best Terrain Mfgs and now the best scrap stuff to use in the hobby! I'm Moving - can I get a visa?
ReplyDeleteDick Bryant
