"Firing into the Brown" #46 - mystery buildings and stuff..

"So Carnehan weeds out the pick of his men, and sets the two of the Army to show them drill and at the end of two weeks the men can manoeuvre about as well as Volunteers. So he marches with the Chief to a great big plain on the top of a mountain, and the Chiefs men rushes into a village and takes it; we three Martinis firing into the brown of the enemy".

Kipling "The Man Who Would Be King"

Time for another update..

(ex) Factories of renown...  virtual prize to the first person who correctly identifies it - if ever a building deserved a blue plaque this one does... building centre right with the two open windows..

I remember going there a few times when I was a much younger Steve the Wargamer..

  3. Not wanting to delve into my pile of rubbish (valuable artifacts) my aging memory suggests to me that this was Minifigs. Probably making a fool of myself but that is not uncommon. Best wishes.

  4. The former Miniature Figurines HQ in Southampton, of course! I visited during Christmas holidays 1988-89 when my mother and step-father lived nearby.

    Kind Regards,

    Stokes

  5. It's Miniature Figurines, surely?
Perhaps ironcally, I went to University at Southampton , but stopped gaming while i was there. I could have spent all my grant money on Minifigs - and what's more I could have knocked on Don Featherstone's door and said 'give us a game..' (!)

  6. I'll guess that it was the original home of Minifigs, although I was living up North in those days, so mine arrived in the post in little cardboard boxes
