Projects... separate blogs or a page here????

I've been tinkering with the project blogs as is my want... I quite like stretching the Blogger layout and format options to do things that they aren't typically designed to do, but which when asked they do rather well..

In this case I've always thought that the project blogs were a bit off on their own, a lone voice in the wilderness if you will - they're only a click away of course, but having them here on this blog seems to make it easier to update/refresh them.. psychologically anyway.....

I started by trying it out with the War of the Spanish Succession project blog... it's now on its own page at the top of this blog, it also still exists currently as a blog in its own right..... I'm fairly sure this is a good move, but what do you think? Which do you prefer, the page above keeping it all within the confines of this blog, or a separate blog for each project which you have to leave this one to go to??

  1. Steve- speaking for myself- all under 1 roff as it were in separate headings perhaps but all under 1 roof - for the reasons you cite

  2. One blog site is a far better option in my opinion. I find it hard to keep track of peoples individual blogs never mind multiple variations from the same person. The proper use of labels removes the need for all that anyway.

    1. Matt - kind of - I tend to follow blogs through Feedly so putting a few extra entries in the feed is not an issue - but as far as maintaining them, I am in awe of that paragon of blogging bloggers, the Legatus - he starts them at the drop of a hat! :o)

  3. Steve, Another vote for all under one roof. It takes a little more effort to get the menus and structure right but I like the lot together. I'm trying to decide how to revamp my own blog and am considering keeping the blog minimal for updates etc. and put the rest in a more conventional website... Can't decide. Can't find the time!

    Good stuff anyway!

    1. Ta Andy - you've almost managed to turn your Wordpress site/blog into a web page so I'd say you were almost there... you could do it in blogger - have one post and load all your web page code into that.... kind of fun just mucking about really.... I am at heart a frustrated, and very amateur, web page & graphic designer! :o)

  4. I've been thinking about this myself and I think under 1 roof is the best.

  5. I have one blog for ancients and one for Napoleonics. I think it's OK to have a couple of blogs, for separate topics. However, I struggle to keep up with mates who have ten or a dozen!

    1. Simon - yeah - a while ago I took the decision to start a separate sailing one as I felt the content just didn't fit here - but the project blogs are wargaming pure and simple... I'll probably leave them up and put a link back to the page on here....

  8. Probably best to keep them all on one blog. I've been checking out your ACW project for years now but I do forget about it from time to time. Your blog is still one of the best around!!!

  9. Another vote for pages behind the blog for the wargaming stuff. It mibht be different if things only ever showed up in one place but even then its harder to keep up.

  10. As one who has a fair number of separate blogs I will vote for all-under-one-roof. I find it very difficult to keep up with all of MY blogs . . . let alone those of others.

  11. One blog to rule them all, I have two blogs and one is left too often without change. Tabs are the way to go
