Bentley Boys....

I was at the pub yesterday evening and the following three beauties arrived...

They're all Bentley's, but I'm no expert on model - I believe they may be Vanden Plas Tourers..  minimum £200K each I was advised, but the one at the front was the very last one made, so that's probably a very low estimate.... the drivers were saying 3.5 to 4 litre engines and they sounded magnificent.....

Don't be fooled by the way - in the books this is James Bond's car of choice, the Aston Martin only came about because of the films...

  1. Nice - I was next to a similar Bentley in the queue for the Bologne-Dover ferry a few years back. It was OK but I bet I fitted more wine in my Volvo.
And without wishing in any way to be picky, JB used an Aston DB-3 in the book 'Goldfinger'. It was from the office 'pool'. I had an office pool car in 1990 - but it was only an Austin Maestro 1.3.....

    1. Tim - if you close your eyes slightly, and squint (as if looking at one of those weird 3D images), Austin looks a bit like Aston, and 1.3 looks like B... errr... don't bother... :o)

  2. John Steed drove a Bentley too, as I recall. This is probably one of the most elegant autos that were ever made. The auto coach builders of the early 1930s created some wonderful works of art.

    1. Alte - I couldn't agree more - bit of a toss up I'd say between these and the Bugatti's, but being British... :o)

  6. Excellent picture!

I've driven one of these big Bentleys on the Isle of Wight and it was an absolute pig in the narrow lanes in West Wight. No syncromesh of course. The one I drove actually had an altimeter in it! I think I have a picture of the Old Bat in it somewhere!
