Miniature Wargames subscription renewed...

Thought it worth mentioning due to the quite extraordinary bargain it represents...

Trusty opponent DG contacted me the other day to say that he had decided to renew his subscription to Miniature Wargames, but this time was going electronic...

He advised...

"I've just received my Battlegames "2 issues left" reminder ... so I decided to stop the paper versions after #376 and switch to online digital versions

Will save at least one bookshelf!

1 year subscription via www.exacteditions.com/miniaturewargames for £29.50

Included are all issues of Battlegames from Jan/Feb 2010 #21 to current, plus
all issues of Miniature Wargames from June 2010 #326 to current

Impressed :o)"

I immediately hot footed it to the site and can confirm the same - for the  princely sum of just shy of 30 squids (other currency denominations are available) you not only get the next 12 issues, but you also get that huge backlog of other issues....

In my view that constitutes a bargain - recommended....

  2. Yes. I was surprised and pleased to discover this when I renewed the past winter. I still miss the old paper, but the cost of that was becoming a bit dear with international postage.

    Best Reards,

  3. Steve, can you confirm that the electronic subscription is actually similar to a rental agreement whereas once the subscription ends, access to your mags vanishes as well? If I subscribe electronically, I would prefer having those paid issues remain.

    1. Jonathan - that's a damn good question; I've asked (f.w.i.w. though it looks like you can save them as html files)

    2. Jonathan - I have had a response... "Exact Editions subscriptions work on an access model basis. This means that you can access an archive of back issues as well as each new issue for the duration of your subscription. However once your subscription expires, you can no longer access the magazine through Exact Editions."
      .
Having said that I can confirm that you can save the magazines off line in PDF format...which being anal, I'll probably do!

    3. Appreciate your detective work, Steve! I may throw my lot on the electronic version too.

    4. Jonathan - one last update - and it may be useful to others.... when you get into the online magazine select the two page view, and on the far right is an option for "printable PDF" or somesuch - use the centre button on your mouse to click on that and it opens it in a new tab, change to that tab (which is an online Acrobat session) and there is an option to download the two pages... all you then do is change the page number in the URL to get the next set of two pages, download, and repeat to the end of the magazine.... slightly irksome, but like you I dislike losing something I've paid for...
