It is a well known fact that show any average wargamer a map and he automatically goes into campaign mode.. imagining his armies sweeping, Stonewall'like, round the flank of the enemy.. marching through mountain passes, transported on railways/river, and the like.. and that's just when they see a London tube map.. 😏
Imagine what they'd do if they saw this little lot then [clicky]... of which the following is just one example..
Fill yer boots... my thanks Paul/Thistlebarrow [clicky] for the lead, and for the web owner (Malcolm McCallum) for making them available for free use to one and all..
Thanks Steve. This is a great resource. I have always enjoyed looking at maps and these will give much food for thought. Now I shall have to fight the computer to get useful copies - I much prefer paper. As you can tell I can now post comments :-). Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteAh Jim - a piece of paper and a set of biro's in blue/black/red and green and the world is your oyster.. all you need is a ruler and a dice and your imagination
DeleteThanks Steve, these are great maps!
ReplyDeleteCheers, PD
Pete - I was astonished at the quality - he's definitely talented
DeleteI have long marveled at Malcolm's skill with CC and these maps in particular. Wish I had similar talent!
ReplyDeleteJonathan - just be thankful such people exist! :o)
DeleteHmm??? A very very useful map, I feel a mini campaign brewing......
ReplyDeleteRay, indeed... and check out the Low Countries one for a real mouth water-er.. :o)
DeleteA wonderful resource there, Steve, a great find!
ReplyDeleteCheers David... just lucky...
DeleteThanks for pointing this out. I was at Osborne House on the isle of Wight last week and they have a 3D map of the estate. I went down to the beach where they have Queen Victoria's bathing machine and I was immediately thinking of an In her majesty's Name scenario of hideous Germans invading the estate from the sea!
